Saltgrave & the dungeon
Saltgrave is Heathen’s town refuge. The keep is its dungeon: explore deeper, collect equipment, then return to sell gear, identify items and replenish potions.

One town, one dungeon
Heathen concentrates its structure on one town and one dungeon. Saltgrave gives the character somewhere to recover and prepare, while repeated journeys into the keep push the adventure deeper. The attraction is the relationship between those two spaces, rather than a promise of many separate towns.
The keep’s corridors, monsters and loot are procedurally generated. A fixed route guide or a permanent loot map would not describe that structure. The development footage shows a graph-based system used to arrange rooms and control pacing.
- Venture into the keep
Explore corridors and fight monsters. - Collect and assess equipment
Balance new loot with attributes and inventory space. - Return to Saltgrave
Sell gear, identify items and replenish potions. - Head deeper
Prepare for another journey into the keep.
What the town is for
Selling equipment, identifying items and restocking potions are the town services demonstrated in the overview. The return trip becomes relevant when the inventory starts to fill, turning a collection of drops into decisions about what to equip and what to sell.
Saltgrave also has inhabitants with stories connected to the fall of their once noble lord. Their accounts are part of the town’s dark-fantasy setting. Named vendors, service costs, quests and a town-portal procedure have not been announced.
Light is part of exploration
The development footage includes an equippable passive lantern as a starting source of light. Carrying a torch or a magical item with extra light radius can increase visibility. No fixed radius or duration has been announced for comparing those choices.
The dungeon’s horror sits close to the combat: the view is first-person, enemies occupy tight stone corridors, and the deeper descent is intended to become more unsettling. Preview the moving camera as well as the still scenes if darkness or camera movement affects how you play.

What to study before a descent
The Templar preview connects armour to an offensive dash, while equipment may also carry attribute requirements. These relationships help explain why a return to town matters even before every item type and class skill is known.
